Matthias Kaltofen was born in Dresden in 1971. He trained as a mechanic and assembler and beginning in 1996 studied law at Dresden University of Technology. Matthias Kaltofen was admitted to the bar in 2004. He became a specialist in tenancy and commonhold property law (Fachanwalt für Miet- und Wohnungseigentumsrecht) in 2008.

He joined BSKP in 2011.
