Stephan Risch was born in Köthen/Saxony-Anhalt in 1976. He studied business administration, specializing in tax consulting and auditing, at the Academy of Vocational Education Saxony in Dresden (Berufsakademie Sachsen). He then worked in a tax consulting firm in Massen and from 2003 in a tax consulting and auditing firm in Munich. He was admitted to practise as a tax adviser in 2008.

He joined BSKP in 2008.
