Petra Schneider was born in Bautzen in 1971. She studied law at Dresden University of Technology, the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer and Bielefeld University. In 2001 she was admitted to the bar. She became a specialist in family law (Fachanwältin für Familienrecht) in 2011. After some years of work as an employed lawyer she joined a regional firm of lawyers on a self-employed basis.

She joined BSKP in 2009.
