Markus Baumgärtner was born in Rottweil in 1966. He studied human resource education in Nuremberg and business at the university of applied sciences in Nürtingen, specializing in taxes, annual financial statements and auditing.

He then worked in a medium-sized firm of tax advisers in Kirchheim/Teck. He was appointed as tax adviser by the Stuttgart Tax Advisers’ Association (Steuerberaterkammer Stuttgart) in 2005. Employed as an assistant accountant and tax adviser with Dr. Ott Audittax GmbH since April 2006, Markus Baumgärtner was vested with a general commercial power of representation (Prokura) in September 2006.

He joined BSKP in 2009.
